Some say necessity is the mother of invention. It's also the instigator of some
pretty amazing ideas. Such was the case for the original founder of
WinterSilks, who back in 1981, regularly found himself trekking home on late
December evenings in sub-zero weather. One day, having grown weary of waiting
for his frozen limbs to thaw, he happened upon a pair of silk long johns.
Willing to give them a try, he wore them home that very night. Much to his
astonishment, they kept him wonderfully warm and pleasantly dry. The next day,
he wore them under his work clothes, and again, found himself incredibly
comfortable at the office, not to mention equally warmed walking home.
The concept of marketing silk garments to the public was born of this
experience. From that day forward, WinterSilks was in the business of bringing
luxurious warmth to the world. The original concept then expanded from silk
long johns to include lingerie, men's and women's travel wear, outerwear and
accessories.
Over the years, WinterSilks developed a strong niche in the specialty mail
order business. With a keen knowledge of silk, vast importation experience with
the Far East, and a large data base of customers enamored of beautifully
crafted silk garments, WinterSilks evolved into the largest and most successful
importer and marketer of filament silk in the United States.
WinterSilks, LLC is also recognized as a leader in providing superior service
to its customers, exceptional value and a complete customer satisfaction
guarantee. In fact, the Direct Mail Market Association (DMA) selected
WinterSilks, Inc. as the recipient of the prestigious Customer Service
Excellence Award. In 1997, the Company won the Inc. Magazine/MCI National
Positive Performer Award for superior customer focus.
We continually research ways to better serve and satisfy our customers. By
following current trends in the marketplace and listening carefully to customer
suggestions, we are able to update our apparel lines with new styles and new
fabrications that enhance our customers' lifestyles. Recent efforts to offer
our customers every ordering convenience has led to the addition of our
WinterSilks website. Now we can bring the luxury of silk to cyberspace and
beyond!
