Renowned for its beautiful luster and sheen, charmeuse (SH-arm-moose), also called
satin, is perhaps the most recognizable type of silk. The term “charmeuse”
actually refers to how the silk is woven (for you weavers out there, the warp threads
cover three or more weft threads). The result is a reflective, glossy finish on
the front and a dull finish on the back of the fabric. The weave also gives charmeuse
a very fluid drape that’s primarily used in luxurious lingerie, evening gowns, and pajamas.

At any given time, there are about 3.1 million abandoned or stray dogs available
for adoption in the United States, according to the National Animal Interest Alliance.
When she's not working at our Madison office, our inventory expert, Shawna, is helping
to find loving homes for one particular breed near and dear to her heart. Shawna
works with Green Acres Boxer Rescue of Wisconsin. Over the years, she's
filled many roles within the organization, from opening her own home to foster dogs
to organizing fundraisers and events. Many of the boxers Shawna helps have been
surrendered by their owners, including one of her most special fosters, Otto. Otto
was brought to Green Acres for being "un-trainable," but Shawna saw his
potential right away. A dog agility trainer, she turned the happy-go-lucky pup into
a blue ribbon agility champion. As for her love of the breed, Shawna says not only
are they loyal, they're also quite comical to watch.
